The Taste of Coral Springs Event History

... The first Taste of Coral Springs was established as a networking and fund-raising event for the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce. Held at the Carolina Club, McDivot's mansion, the inaugural event was attended by approximately 200 guests, sampling wines, spirits and a delicious cheese and fruit table.

... In year two, and still under the direction of the Chamber, the event was moved to the Coral Springs Center of the Arts. Restaurants were added to the event along with a cigar area. Approximately 400 people attended as the event began to be recognized by the movers and shakers of Coral Springs.

... Year three saw the Taste take on a life of its own. A non-profit corporation was formed by seven Coral Springs business men with the purpose of raising money for charity. A partnership was formed with the Honda Classic Golf Tournament, which allowed us to be billed as the opening event of Honda Week. Restaurant participation grew to 15 different restaurants. A silent auction and a fund-raising super raffle were added and the physical area of the event expanded to a tent in the courtyard as well as the three floors of the Center of the Arts. With the help of our Corporate Sponsors, volunteers, and over 1,000 event participants, $21,000 was raised for selected childrens organizations.

... The 1999 Taste grew again. Having gained a reputation as the premier event of its kind in the area, sponsors and guests looking forward to the event have jumped on board with a minimum of solicitation. Over 1,200 guests attended and raised $34,000 for selected childrens causes.

... The 2000 Taste was an event, second to none. With expanded area and over 1300 people in attendance it was definitely a night to be remembered.  Through your generosity, we raised $48,000 for selected children's charities.

... The Taste took the year off.

... The 2002 Taste was a delightful event. Smaller in comparison to 2000 due to the year off, but enjoyed by all who attended. With approximately 800 in attendance, we were happy to report that we raised over $25,000 for this year's selected charities.

... The 2003 Taste showed a renewal in community awareness and was attended by over 1,000 people. The event raised $40,000 for selected children's charities.

... The 2004 "Wine & Diamonds" Taste was attended by more than 900 people, and raised $39,000 for the children's charities.

... The 2005 Taste raised $42,000 for the children's charities, and was experienced by 800 people. This year's auction items featured two Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

... The Taste raised $50,000 for children's charities
and was attended by more than 800 people. The event
featured a Mardi Gras theme and was held on Fat Tuesday, February 28.

... The Taste took the year off.

... The Taste of Coral Springs was back and better than ever!
