- 1996
The first Taste of Coral Springs was established as a networking and fund-raising
event for the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce. Held at the Carolina Club,
McDivot's mansion, the inaugural event was attended by approximately 200
guests, sampling wines, spirits and a delicious cheese and fruit table.
- 1997
In year two, and still under the direction of the Chamber,
the event was moved to the Coral Springs Center of the Arts. Restaurants
were added to the event along with a cigar area. Approximately 400 people
attended as the event began to be recognized by the movers and shakers
of Coral Springs.
- 1998
Year three saw the Taste take on a life of its own. A non-profit
corporation was formed by seven Coral Springs business men with the purpose
of raising money for charity.
A partnership was formed with the Honda Classic
Golf Tournament, which allowed us to be billed as the opening event of
Honda Week. Restaurant participation grew to 15 different restaurants.
A silent auction and a fund-raising super raffle were added and the physical
area of the event expanded to a tent in the courtyard as well as the three
floors of the Center of the Arts. With the help of our Corporate Sponsors,
volunteers, and over 1,000 event participants, $21,000 was raised for selected
childrens organizations.
- 1999
The 1999 Taste grew again. Having gained a reputation as
the premier event of its kind in the area, sponsors and guests looking
forward to the event have jumped on board with a minimum of solicitation.
Over 1,200 guests attended and raised $34,000 for selected childrens causes.
- 2000
The 2000 Taste was an event, second to none. With expanded
area and over 1300 people in attendance it was definitely a night to be
remembered.
Through your generosity, we raised $48,000 for selected
children's charities.
